Wait, I can order that ASWELL!?
![]() 10/08/2020 at 17:49 |

Very cool! Sorry about the wait. I guess TFL ordered theirs in June and just got it now. It may be a while.
![]() 10/08/2020 at 17:56 |

Thanks! Yeah 3-5 months is a ballpark estimate. I REALLY hope it’s only 3 months, I can’t wait to take it on trips. First trip I want to do is Assateague and then maybe set up a bigger overland trip up to Maine or Vermont (as COVID situation allows) with friends.

Make it out west and we’ll do some wheeling
![]() 10/08/2020 at 17:59 |

Oh, heading out West is definitely on the short list.

Love that Tasman Blue. Bummer you’ve got to keep waiting, but I’m sure the payoff will be worth it once the truck arrives!

Just waiting for the Defender 90 SVR. It’s gonna be a spicy meat-a-ball

I’ve finally been seeing some in my area (which is odd since we have 3 dealers in the city) and have to say I love the look more and more. Can’t wait to read about yours when it comes in!
![]() 10/08/2020 at 18:34 |

Wow, thats a very nice spec, congrats! I hope it gets built soon.
![]() 10/08/2020 at 18:36 |
|
Congratulations!
I’ M NOT JEALOUS WHATSOEVER, YOU BASTARD .
Jokes aside, good choice of colour and spec.
I’d go for a 90 in Pangea Green with the P300 and the offroad pack, with as little extras as possible to try to keep it under £50,000. Currently I’ve built it to about £47,000, but so many shiny (and expensive) option packs...

This is not really shitposting, no need to be.....................Defensive.

I feel your pain, but hang in there! When I placed my order for my GT350 last December on the 22, my order sat in limbo for TWO MONTHS before it finally went in and I got my VIN.
So that was February 22 and the car was scheduled to go into production the first week of April. Well, COVID happened and that got pushed back to June. Once the plants restarted in May, things finally settled back in to place and the car was built June 12th, delivered June 26th, and I finally took her home June 30th.
That was an agonizingly-long 6+ months of waiting, but as they say, good things come to those who wait, and man was it ever worth it, and it’ll be worth it for you too!
![]() 10/08/2020 at 18:55 |

I would not be opposed to that at all.
![]() 10/08/2020 at 18:56 |

Ugh that’s horrible! At least you finally have and I have no doubt I’m going to be as happy as a pig in shit when it finally arrives.

Take your star and get out.
![]() 10/08/2020 at 18:57 |

Looking forward to your review. I want to test drive one when I don’t feel guilty for going out needlessly during the pandemic.
![]() 10/08/2020 at 18:58 |

Why not wait for the commercial spec and see what you can get away with there? So long as you can get the off road goodies, that’s all you really need right?
![]() 10/08/2020 at 19:00 |
|
I actually saw the Tasman Blue in person, pictures don’t do it any justice. It is fantastic in person.
![]() 10/08/2020 at 19:02 |
|
They ride really nice, big and comfy... which is really weird when you know how an old Defender rides.
![]() 10/08/2020 at 19:03 |
|
I was gunning for a PS5 or some hand sanitiser...but I’ll take it
![]() 10/08/2020 at 19:12 |
|
I sorta don’t want a van, I want the folding fabric roof, a petrol engine (as they’ll be less taxed than diesels from what I can tell) and would quite like the rear seats, as I’m regularly my friend group/family taxi driver. Also that and the 90 in that spec is the best looking 4x4 ever in my opinion... perfection. Although, if I can find one cheap, I would consider a tangier blue 90 van...
![]() 10/08/2020 at 19:52 |
|
Wow, props to you dude. Ordering a brand new defender like you loaded :P
![]() 10/08/2020 at 19:55 |
|
My buddy’s LR4 is so nice, I know it’s gotta ride better than that which is crazy to me.
![]() 10/08/2020 at 19:59 |
|
Great color
Did they give an expected delivery date?
![]() 10/08/2020 at 20:00 |
|
On the plus side you don’t have to worry about brexit screwing up delivery.
![]() 10/08/2020 at 20:02 |
|
I just drove one today. If it weren't 85k I'd go for it. They have a GT4 on the lot too which has me thinking about saying my goodbyes to the morgan.
![]() 10/08/2020 at 21:46 |
|
I can see the actual Tasman out of the window at home. It never looks that nice...
![]() 10/08/2020 at 21:55 |
|
Yeah, rides much nicer than a LR4. Which is really crazy.
![]() 10/08/2020 at 22:01 |
|
I got out of there for $20k less, P400 isn’t worth the extra money IMHO. That and I was specifically wanting 18" wheels vs the 19"+ on the P400's.
![]() 10/08/2020 at 22:04 |
|
Nothing for certain until the factory picks up the order, but 3-5 months was the ball park.
![]() 10/08/2020 at 22:06 |
|
I’ve seen exactly two new Defenders so far at my workplace. One Indus Silver, and one Tasman Blue. The silver is fine, but makes the Defender look a little boring (full disclosure, my old Freelander was also silver).
But that blue, it looked fantastic, even under the parking garage’s sodium lamps.
![]() 10/08/2020 at 22:08 |

might be playing it safe and not commiting to a date with covid cases rising sharply in Slovakia and neighboring states. .
![]() 10/08/2020 at 22:12 |
|
My biggest add is the adaptive cruise control so HSE and above trim, from there...crazy town.
![]() 10/08/2020 at 22:14 |
|
There is always the after lease market if you're willing to wait. I figured I'd not get what I really wanted unless I just ponyed up and ordered what I wanted.
![]() 10/08/2020 at 22:24 |
|
Hardly lol, just waited 3 years before replacing the old money pit with a new one. It's amazing how much money you can save when you're not shoving it into a oil soaked hole in the driveway.
![]() 10/08/2020 at 22:56 |
|
Adaptive cruise was an option on my build.ui ($2k IIRC) as it is emergency braking is standard.
You can pretty much get anything on any trim sans wheel size being dependant on which engine you get.
![]() 10/08/2020 at 23:01 |
|
Don't say that!!!!
![]() 10/08/2020 at 23:04 |

Man had they put a two speed transfer case in the Freelander, it would have been Suzuki samurai levels of awesome. Such a fun little truck.

Back to the configurator for me!

Agreed. I actually really did enjoy mine, and never had a single mechanical issue with it whole it was my daily driver. In a lot of ways, it was the perfect camping vehicle.
![]() 10/09/2020 at 07:04 |
|
True that. When i bought the solara it was amazing how much money i saved just not working int the car.
![]() 10/09/2020 at 09:45 |
|
Depending on location and timing this is also a thing I could be interested in.
![]() 10/09/2020 at 09:49 |
|
I’ll be looking at 90s when they come out, maybe just give it a year and see what people have bought, although I’m really wanting the colour scheme of white roof (because Defender), Pangea green and white steelies as that’s what a Defender should look like in my eyes. Also that and I love the idea of steelies on a 2020 Land Rover of all things
![]() 10/09/2020 at 11:12 |
|
I wanted steelies but I compromised with my better half as she is also going to be driving it and likes alloys (also mind you I want to put bigger tyres on it so less weight on the UJ’s the better I guess).
![]() 10/09/2020 at 11:32 |
|
I saw a defender this morning that had rubber bands for tires and I was like,
“Why?”
![]() 10/09/2020 at 11:36 |
|
Because all their friends have Discovery’s and Merc’s and they want to be “different”.
![]() 10/09/2020 at 12:14 |
|
Fair enough, I can understand the compromise, as some do not see the value of steelies and prefer alloys. Well I in general hate steelies, I hate the aftermarket steelies on my Range Rover Classic which have rusted and I much prefer the three spoke vogue alloys (that I have but the tyres are beyond buggered) and the nice 17” five spoke alloys on my Freelander, but for the Defender? They just look perfect, although the five spoke alloys on the Defender also look nice... but are too big for me.
![]() 10/09/2020 at 12:46 |
|
Oh, the alloys coming with mine are 18". Same size as the Steelies, although if I’m being honest I don’t really like those ones. Now if they were Nato style we’d be having a different conversation...
![]() 10/09/2020 at 13:24 |
|
So much stupid.
![]() 10/09/2020 at 19:56 |
|
The 110 I drove a while back had 20 inch rims, but it was black on black on black so it worked. But I didn’t like that colour as much... too villainous for my tastes, plus black is a colour for people with no imagination when it comes to Land Rover products. They look good in so many colours, it’s not a Ford Model T for the gods sakes... sod the resale, be interesting...
(By the way, Blue is interesting, plus extra points for correct roof colour)
(-1 point for non steelies. Sorry, it’s the rules)
![]() 10/10/2020 at 08:15 |

They call it Tasman Blue, but I’m pretty sure it’s Eggshell Blue.
At least in person it looks a helluva lot like Eggshell.

Just a heads up, with the Destruction of Oppo. I’m heading over to DriveTribe like a lot of Oppos will probably be doing. You can find more Defender related updates (none yet) there! Hope you’re well!
![]() 11/07/2020 at 13:43 |

What’s your handle? Mines Alex Leeks over there, I’ve actually been a member a while, so it’ll be nice to see a large influx of fellow Oppo’s

The bloody, trying to keep it the same for now until we’re all settled then maybe do something a little bit more professional.
